Biography and Background

I am a 4th Generation Idahoan and have lived in Kuna my entire life, working on my family’s farm, Big “D” Ranch. I am married to Melissa, my wife of 16 years. Together we have 4 children ranging from ages 15 to 4 years old. I am a graduate of Kuna High School and went on to study at Boise State University where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. I currently help manage our family farm of 1400 acres and help run our grain elevator and feed store. I am also involved with many local organizations including President of Ada County Farm Bureau where I have served in this position for the past 3 years.

Top 3 Issues

Issue 1

As a Commissioner for the Highway District we need to remind ourselves that we are a Highway District, and that we should be focusing on constructing and maintaining our highways and roadways. We have too many roads that are in poor condition and roads that aren’t able to keep up with the increased traffic. Too many times I feel we get lost in special interest projects and not what is truly going to benefit the traffic. We need to find more revenue sources without raising taxes to help maintain and build our roads for the future, alleviating the time spent driving from point A to point B.

Issue 2

We need to find ways to eliminate red tape to help keep projects on schedule and under budget. I hear too many times that because of all the red tape that has to be sorted thru it can make projects run long and take more time than expected. We need to find what has worked on other similar projects and use those same principles to streamline future projects without putting anything in jeopardy.

Issue 3

Deadlines need to be meet. To many times driving around you see road signs stating when the road is supposed to reopen, and more times than it should it gets postponed. This causes headaches and frustrations with drivers in our county. We all have deadlines at work and when work is supposed to be completed. If it is not completed we need to have larger consequences or penalties if the road is not open when scheduled. When the roads are not open it causes more congestion and wear and tear on other surrounding roadways. We need to work harder as a Highway District to keep our roads open and traffic flowing smoothly.
