Doug Ricks

Doug Ricks serves as Chairman of Region 7.  He is from Rexburg and is the Idaho State Senator for District 34. He served one term in the House of Representatives prior to being elected to two terms in the Senate.  

He was raised on a farm in Madison County and graduated from Ricks College and BYU-Idaho. A former PC computer store owner and Information Technology Specialist at BYU-Idaho. Now retired, he invests in real estate.  Together with his wife Melissa of 37 years, they have raised five children and have four grandchildren.

Doug comes from strong republican roots. His father served in the Idaho Senate for eight terms and his grandfather served one term in the Idaho House of Representatives. Doug has been a precinct committeeman since 2012 and past chairman of the Madison County Republican Central Committee.

His senate standing committees are Agriculture Affairs, Judiciary & Rules (vice chair), and Local Government & Taxation. He also serves on the Idaho Broadband Advisory Board, the Idaho Behavioral Health Council, the Criminal Justice Reinvestment Oversight Committee, and the Joint Working Group on Elections.

His goal as region chairman is to promote faith-centered standards, elect republicans, and maintain a healthy working relationship between the party and legislature.
