Biography and Background

Greetings Idaho! I am Representative Tammy Nichols currently of District 11. After serving 4 years in the House of Representatives, it has become quite clear that I am needed over in the Senate, and am now running for Senate in the new District 10. I am not a politician, but I am a home grown Idaho spud with deep ties to farming, Idaho values, and a pioneer heritage.

I began working at the age of 6 years old as I grew up in a family who owned and operated private schools and day care centers in the Boise area. I graduated from Boise High School, and participated in student body government, as well as on the “”Brave Sensation”” Dance/Drill Team. I have 5 children, 3 who have graduated from Middleton High School, and 2 who are currently attending. I hold a science degree from BYU-Idaho, and am an accomplished business owner in property management.

My knowledge and skills in the business and political world have also given me numerous opportunities to work with many local and national organizations on various issues that concern not only Idaho, but also our nation. These include educational issues, the 2nd amendment, the constitution, veterans/military, taxes, marriage, abortion and more. I have had the opportunity to speak and work with many national and state leaders regarding these important issues.

I truly love to serve, and looks for opportunities to do so. I have coached youth soccer and basketball, worked with the Scouting programs, participated in local service projects and community events including The March of Dimes. As a school volunteer, I have participated as a classroom mom, “”field trip chaperone””, football parent, and have helped with many projects such as fund raisers, teacher appreciation days, and pictures days. As a church volunteer, I have served in the children’s music program, youth girls activity group, Sunday school teacher, youth organizational president, and secretary in the women’s Relief Society organization.

Idaho is a great state with great people who hold conservative values, and love faith and freedom. However, all is not well. Our country is under attack. Inflation, war, and economic uncertainty seem everywhere . Our culture and way of life are threatened, and there is a swamp in the state of Idaho.

We say in the House that the Senate is where good bills go to die. The Senate is in desperate need of help, the only way to make the changes needed is to get people in who understand what needs to change, and who won’t allow the government to cast aside your God-given right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. My proven conservative record speaks for itself. I am always protecting the Bill of Rights and am a tireless advocate for your freedoms and to give you back your voice.

I urge you to continue to support and work with me. Together, we can make a meaningful difference– for our families, our communities, our state, and our country.

God Bless!

Top 3 Issues

Issue 1

Taxes and spending! All taxes, budgets, and spending need to be re-examined because Idahoans are paying too much of their hard-earned dollars to the government, and the tax system has become very complicated to understand. I have voted, supported, and co-sponsored grocery tax repeal, fuel tax cuts, property tax cuts, and income tax cuts, just to name a few, but more needs to be done to give relief to the people of Idaho and their money back into their pockets.

Issue 2

Health Freedom/Cost. We learned very quickly how important it is to have freedom in your health. We also found out how easily it can be taken away. We don’t want to ever do that again. We must maintain our freedoms in our health and the health of our loved ones. The government must never be able to force you to put something into your body that you don’t want. Where there is risk, there must also be a choice, because if you lose that ability, then you really have no freedoms at all. I have also voted, supported, and sponsored and co-sponsored legislation to uphold this basic right of body autonomy, and will continue to do so in the work that still needs to be done. The cost of health care is also a huge concern to many as it keeps going up, we need to get those cost down both in services and prescriptions. Allowing the free market and capitalism to work can greatly help with that.

Issue 3

Education: I have had the opportunity to work with many families throughout the state who are greatly concerned with education. In fact, education (Common Core) is what got me involved in politics. School choice, cost, indoctrination issues, teacher pay, learning, parental rights and so on are of great concern. I have also voted, supported, and co-sponsored good pieces of legislation over the past 4 years to help and try to help make our education system function and do better than it is. Many students graduate ill prepared to earn a living and pay off their debt. Trade school is placed on the back burner…this needs to change. Many of our local businesses need go trade school.
