
Biography and Background
Heather Scott is currently a member of the Idaho State House of Representatives serving North Idaho. She is a strong advocate for educating and empowering citizens to be more involved in local and state government. Heather believes in common sense and limited government driven from the bottom up.
Heather has built a strong support network across a broad political spectrum locally and across the state. She has an outstanding reputation for excellent constituent representation, finding workable simple solutions to complex issues and striving to reach short and long-term goals. She relies on scientifically supported facts when making decisions in House committees and on the House floor.
Heather has built strong lasting relationships with volunteers, donors and communities, colleagues and stakeholders. Annually she has devised techniques to successfully expand her support base and donations from district wide to statewide to even nationally and built a team of volunteer bill readers that respect and work for her because they believe in her leadership and skills as a respected legislator.
Representative Scott has served as the District 1A Representative since 2015. Starting 2022, due to redistricting, she is now is part of the new District 2. Serving her district as both a State Representative and a Precinct Committeeman for the Idaho Republican Party, Heather has proven she is ready to rise to the challenge of protecting our republic, our personal freedoms and always pushing back against the overreach of government.
Heather has maintained one of the highest freedom scores out of 105 legislators for 8 years straight from the Idaho Freedom Foundation for conservative voting. Heather has created a popular pamphlet titled 101 Things You Do (To Help Save Our State and Republic). She also created the Growing Freedom for Idaho website to help citizens navigate the system and follow bills through the legislative process. Representative Scott regularly gives speeches throughout Idaho and the West encouraging citizens to be educated and engaged with their government to protect constitutional liberties, freedoms, individual rights, private property rights and traditional family values.
Throughout her eight years in office (2015-2022) Heather has received many awards including yearly top Freedom and Spending Index scores for from the Idaho Freedom Foundation, the Conservative Excellence Awards from The American Conservative Union Foundation; and the Yearly Idaho Farm Bureau Federation – Friend of Agriculture Awards.
Heather was first in her family to graduate from college. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in biology from the University of Akron. Working 3 jobs to put herself through college, she understands the importance of hard work, personal responsibility, time management, and financial prudence. She is the proud daughter of a Vietnam veteran and the proud granddaughter of two World War II veterans. In addition to her legislative work, she is a small business owner and a wife. She and her husband, Andrew, have been married 24 years and enjoy a rural lifestyle on a small farm in north Idaho.
