Biography and Background
I was born in Laredo Texas, while my father was serving in the US Air Force. We later moved back to Brigham City, UT where I was raised until I was 15, when we moved to Malad Idaho in 1973. I graduated High School in 1975 and subsequently served a two-year LDS mission along the Texas / Mexico border where I learned to love and serve the people. Shortly after my return I married my sweetheart, Anita (Head) and we eventually had 3 wonderful children (Jacob, Melissa, and Breanna) and now also are blessed with 11 amazing grandchildren ranging in ages from 8 – 21. I have served in many volunteer capacities over the years including Church, Scouting, Interfaith Council and several others.
After having served for a little over a year as the County Commissioner and navigating the steep learning curve involved by engaging in local government, my previous passion for serving my fellowman has grown exponentially. I am therefore seeking re-election with the desire to continue to do my part in promoting strength through unity in Oneida County.
I believe that all levels of government should truly be “of the people, by the people, and for the people”, and that as we work together to reinforce the principles and values which have made Oneida County such a great place to live, we will preserve a gathering place for those seeking refuge from today’s challenging world.
It is my firm belief that our Founding Fathers were inspired by God to institute His Law, even the Constitution of the United States. We are blessed that our State’s Constitution and Republican Party Platform mirror those same timeless principles. As we continually strive to internalize and adhere to these divine laws, we will succeed in building a community of one heart and one mind, where peace and unity will prevail, and we will be better prepared to weather the storms of adversity that do and will continue to encroach upon our world.
Now, more than ever, may God bless our nation, our state, and our community, as we seek to serve one another.
