Biography and Background

I’m a product of a local experience similar to many of my fellow Idahoans.
My dreams started off at Purple Sage Golf Course in Caldwell when I was young. My parents told me if I could save up some money, they’d take me to Disneyland, so I took the challenge. I loaded up a red wagon with a cooler of lemonade, cups and my springer spaniel, Melanie, and parked at Hole Seven, where I would sell homemade lemonade to thirsty golfers for a quarter. I was so successful that I even got other neighborhood kids involved and let them sell, too. It worked, and we went to Disneyland. Today I’m not selling lemonade anymore, but I do help people find what they need. As Market President for First Federal Savings and Loan, I oversee all sales and operations for the Treasure Valley, manage $100 million in growth and work to keep the bank on the forefront of the industry. I love what I do and I wake up every morning feeling blessed being in the shoes I’m in. I originally got my foot in the business with U.S. Bank at the Skyway vista branch in Boise, where I started as a personal banker, followed by a stint at Key Bank. I then worked as vice president for Home Federal Bank and D.L. Evans Bank before finding a home with First Federal bank. Meanwhile, I earned a degree in business management from Boise State University and graduated from the Pacific Coast Banking School through the University of Washington. I have always had the motto that there are lots of people smarter than me, but no one will ever out-work me. This has opened doors and opportunities early on in my career. Outside of work, I’m passionate about giving back to the younger members of the community: I’m past President of the Nampa Boys and Girls Club board. We provide a safe place for kids to be after school and surround themselves with positive peer influence. It also allows mom and dad to keep jobs. That’s better for our overall community. I also served as past president for the Nampa Kiwanis Club, I am currently the Board Chair for the Nampa Saint Alphonsus Foundation and have a seat on the CWI board of Trustees. My beautiful and amazing wife and I are parents to two daughters, 17 and 14. We love the mountains and enjoy hiking, biking, and exploring together. I only am where I am because I’m blessed to be surrounded by amazing people and I learned to never give up.

Top 3 Issues

Issue 1

As an executive leader in the financial service industry maintaining a conservative budget and sound business practice is always my number one priority. As my roll as a Trustee on the board I chair the finance committee which has allowed me to work hand in hand with the finance department. CWI has the lowest tax pay burden in the state at $10 per $100,000 which has effectively reduced by 60% over the last 7 years. The institution has ran a conservative budget which I plan to keep as my priority as serving on the board.

Issue 2

Translating enrollment The state has made a considerable investment in making duel credit available to our local high school students. CWI has a responsibility to help students translate their duel credit into advanced enrollment at CWI.

Issue 3

Amongst the many board seats I fill. I sit on multiple community boards within Saint Alphonses Hospital. I’ve had first hand experience witnessing the staffing shortage within healthcare industry. CWI is well positioned to respond to this critical need and has solutions to expand health science facilities without additional tax payer burden.
