Dorothy Moon

Dorothy Moon was elected to serve as the chairwoman of the Idaho Republican Party in July of 2022. Moon served three terms in the Idaho Legislature as State Representative for District 8. Moon’s career in public service has focused on the advancement of individual liberties and reducing the size and scope of government. 

Manifesting her love for children and their desire for learning and to open minds to greater possibilities, brighter futures, and happier lives by the mastery of real skills, Moon’s first vocation was as a teacher. Moon worked with students that had learning and physical disabilities, working to invert perceived hardship into achievement. 

Dorothy Moon has been actively involved in communities across Idaho, bringing awareness and hope for brighter futures by founding the Idaho Liberty Summit, a bi-annual meeting of conservatives and high-profile speakers. The first annual Summit was held in Challis, Idaho and headlined Andrew Breitbart.

Moon has a Bachelor of Science in secondary education comprehensive science with a Master of Science in resource planning. She retired as a special education director and science teacher from Challis High School (2012). She is the President of Moon & Associates Inc., an engineering and land surveying business since 1994; owner in gold mining operations in central Idaho and was voted Outstanding Republican Legislator by Idaho GOP in 2018. She is married to her husband Darr and has two adult sons.
